Follow the Worm

Feel the bed melt into mud, sink into the sandy loam Tuck beneath the moss and muddy leaves And close your eyes Capture the leader We capture the leader Capture the leader Oh, we capture the leader Now be pulled through overgrowth to an entrance here Leave the warmth of home back in your bed And crawl inside We dream alone We dream alone We dream alone We dream alone You’re just a kid trapped in the mud It’s been much worse And if this trip lays weight on top of you Crawl back outside Capture the leader (We dream alone) We capture the leader (We dream alone) Capture the leader (We dream alone) Oh, we capture the leader (We dream alone)

Don’t wait, it’s coming around again You can hear it like a train rumbling down the tracks Crawl in towards the back where the wind grows weak This rain won't let you leave One sound that wasn’t even there One mistake, no one even cared We grow up with thorn and fern But do we ever learn We follow the worm Do you hear it now, the beckoning ahead The words whisper through the leaves like a fan above the bed We creep under thistles that burn But we don’t ever learn No, we follow the worm Do you hear it now, the beckoning ahead The words whisper through the leaves like a fan above the bed We creep under thistles that burn But we don’t ever learn We creep under thistles that burn But we don’t ever learn We creep under thistles that burn But we don’t ever learn No, we follow the worm

I’d call myself an animal, but I’m just visiting And every time you howl, it comes bouncing back to you I’m not absent, I’m just not here I’m passing through If you move aside, then I will too We’re passing through It’s as far ahead as it is behind That trail’s been dug beneath us It’s a permanent line But now infinite doorways lead to infinite doorways The lights grow dim and turn inside out The path keeps branching off It’s not clear when I’ll be home tonight My thoughts keep wandering off I’m not here I’m just passing through Isn’t this the way that we came in Or is it now the path that leads the way back home Some will take the high road while others drop below Who are you? Who are you? Some proceed with caution while others cut right through Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?

We climb up through mud towards the creek To feel the water round our feet We lie back with bodies to the sky Waiting for the sun to rise We let it in We let it in Cause we’re all rain clouds and hollows Doorways that lead out beyond this Beyond us We crawl in and under and over And we’ve gone beyond this Beyond us We find the trail, let it lead We’ll get dirty for a while Then let us leave Let us leave Now we’re all turned around But we’ll get back to ground We’ll get back to ground No we won’t ever learn If we follow the worm If we follow the worm Yeah we won’t ever learn If we follow the worm If we follow the worm We got all turned around But we’ll get back to ground We’ll get back to ground We’ll get back to ground

We Crawl 04:04
Here’s to self preservation and feeling all right And holding on as the cabin begins to shake You say “Pull yourself together” That old cliche As you were as it was as it used to be Not as it will As you were as it was as it used to be Not as it will Pull up, pull up We’re bottoming out We can see the tree tops pulled into the engines As the floorboards crumble to ground We go tumbling away We go tumbling away We go tumbling away And we crawl Yeah we crawl Yeah we crawl No one’s even listening, we’re just shouting at the wall So we crawl under thorn and thistle Yeah we crawl Stuff your blame into your pockets No one’s guilty at all We’ll just crawl back into the forest Yeah we crawl We crawl Yeah we crawl Yeah we crawl We crawl Yeah we…

about

"Follow the Worm" is a short recollection of dreams, and the desire to return to them upon waking.

It's a series of images more than stories—crawling through the forest as an insect, traveling through the hollows of trees on the creek bank, digging through the earth and finding comfort among the moss and soft grasses.

This 20 minute EP is saturated with synths, pulsing bass lines, and a collection of homemade instruments that provide lush soundscapes behind each song.

I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as I enjoyed making it.
